Lasse Gullvåg Sætre

About

Lasse (born 1987) is a technologist and geographer from Norway. His degrees are earned from the University of Oslo. Today, he helps organizations understand performance and impact, often through aggregation and analysis of geospatial data. Earlier experiences from open source development, science journalism, web publishing, and teaching has given Lasse a comprehensive understanding of what he calls “heterogenous infrastructures“. He enjoys standards, modularity, and keeping it stupidly simple.

  • Serious Shea - Forestry Assessment:
    Project lead Analyst

    Resource and collector group mapping for supply chain establishment. Projecting, in sourcing and contract negotiations. Satellite, surveys and interviews. Designed GIS for their SCM system.
  • Earth Observation for Decision Management:
    Consortium lead

    Integrating satellite data to improve agricultural development impact for the UN agency IFAD. Consortium of Europe's foremost remote sensing experts. In field trainings in Senegal. Top grades in final UN evaluation.
  • MaptimeOSL:
    Founder

    Started local chapter of the global free map coding club. Since 2014 participants have included Kartverket, Norkart, Dagbladet, among several other commercial and public enterprises.
  • Open source projects:
    Designer Developer Community lead

    Got recruited to the free software movement in 2005 as a teen, and was quickly pulled to MIT to work on Ubuntu. Lots of international developer's conferences later, he continued to co-found and head community development for a smaller Linux distribution. Has enjoyed the FOSS space immensely ever since.
